I spent a wonderful weekend in Washington D.C., one of my favorite cities, visiting one of my sons and seeing Monticello for the first time. More on the Met Gala and the fine line between "camp" and tacky. After reading that essay, I came across this Colorado retreat, which I thought illustrated that point exactly, as imho, it crossed the line into tacky. On the other hand, if it was a boutique hotel and not a private residence, I would have loved it. Context is everything.
