Procrastination Links 03.25.19

I’m off to Alt Summit, a blog conference in Palm Springs, this week. I’ll be back on the blog in a couple of weeks to share some tidbits and tales from the conference. In the meantime, check out my favorite procrastination links from around the web…

  • Great tips for killing it on Instagram.

  • This is nothing like the stories I usually share about inspiring older females. If you click on nothing else today, read this. It's five minutes.

  • Art v. Happiness: Which would you pick if you had to pick one?

  • Have you read Neil Gaiman's "American Gods?" It's wonderful! Season Two begins soon, and this bizarro Wisconsin place, House on the Rock, figures prominently in it. I remember visiting as a kid -- so wild! More here

  • "They Knew What They Wanted," a poem consisting of film titles by John Ashbury.

  • I love this room but it is definitely designed for someone willowy. Climbing out of that tub would be awkward at best, and with a mirror lurking on the opposite wall, who needs that? Also, when you eventually slip and grab at something, what's to steady you other than that precarious glass table, which will shatter in a heartbeat. And then think of the blood. NOT WORTH IT PEOPLE.

  • Happy Persian New Year! Some floral eye candy for you

  • I've been traveling so did not create a Haft Seen, which is the traditional table arrangement of symbolic elements that we create to celebrate the Persian Norooz. Maybe I should have copied this woman's version of a Haft Seen. Very creative!

And, some great reader comments on my post Coming on a Little Too Strong:

Says Anna M.: “I’ve been told that I’m intimidating... I feel like it’s an exuberance for people and experiences and I’ve always wondered WHY is this a turn off? It reminds me of how you can tell sometimes when someone takes an instant dislike to you... like, “You haven’t given me a chance to show you how fun or cool or nice I am! Let me show you!” Coming on too strong? Bring it on.”

Says Architect Barbie: “I love that you're a strong woman, although I'd put you in a fine wine category, not cheese. Cheese can be offensive. Wine is always pleasant. As a fellow comin'-on-strong kinda gal, I have found that when I am the purest, most distilled version of myself, I attract the people who are good fits for me and repel the ones that are not. Very efficient litmus test of compatibility. Nice guns, btw. You inspire and energize me.”
