First Annual French Flea Market at FNK

I wish I could invite all of you to my house for this sale. I'd give you all French bises on each cheek, hand you a nice glass of champagne and after you've finished shopping, I'd offer you my homemade mousse au chocolat served with fresh raspberries and a sprig of mint. We would proudly talk of the recent heroics of the Americans on the train and how they were the toast of Paris, despite wearing golf shirts to receive their medals from the president of France.

Alas, we are in a virtual world and I don't have any mousse au chocolat. Still, I do hope you browse my little French flea market. It's an odd assortment but that's what happens when you have one morning to shop. Imagine if I had a week! (Next summer, cherie, next summer.)

If you see something you like, click on the photo for more information.

The item in the photo above is a 'wattmetre' and last summer, it caused a serious kerfuffle in the Charles de Gaulle security line when I decided to carry it on board instead of checking it. (Because it's so fragile!) The French officials took it aside and spent a while huddled around it, discussing the fact that it had traces of gunpowder on it. They sternly asked me why I had such a thing. I decided that expressing unabashed admiration for French ingenuity was the best approach. "I mean look at those levelers! And the detailed chart!" They agreed. And then my husband offered them one of the fancy macaroons we purchased for my mother, and that gesture sealed the deal. They let us pass.

Thanks for looking! Au revoir!
