Introducing Minnie and her Scottie Friends

This is a photo of Minnie the Doorstop Scotty. Minnie is short for Minerva, as in Miss Minerva McGonnagal, the esteemed professor at Hogwart's. My cast iron Minnie is antique and heavy, making her an excellent protectorate of the young wizards and witches of Gryffindor House.

In actuality, I named my Minnie after a living Minnie here in Milwaukee. She is a dear dog with a wavy coat, short legs, and a sweet disposition. I have always coveted her.

Because who can resist Scotties? They are like kittens with aspects of doggishness. By that I mean that yes, they are cute but more significantly, Scotties are rather independent for dogs. I love watching them walk -- their feet hardly touch the ground and their perky ears and alert eyes prove that they are ready for whatever is around the corner!

They captivate their owners with their loyalty and resilience.  Franklin Roosevelt's Scottie, Fala, is buried alongside him and is memorialized as part of the FDR memorial in Washington D.C. Anne Morrow Lingbergh was once asked how she endured living alone. She replied, "Oh I'm not alone. I have a Scottish terrier. They are closest to a human being of all dogs."

All of these Scotties are now available in the shop. Click on the photos for details. I will be sad to send them off to new homes but will give each a pat on the head before it begins its journey.

And to reward you for reading all the way through, here is a heartwarming story about an abandoned Yorkshire terrier who adopted two little kittens. You're welcome!
